Appalachian Studies Association
Since 1996 I have been attending the annual conference of the Appalachian Studies Association. My initial reason was to gather background information for my book, Weavers of the Southern Highlands. However, I realized that I was interested in crafts of this area, both historic and contemporary, and in education. My main focus has been the early twentieth century.
For many years I served as Co-Chair of the Howard Dorgan Silent Auction and Raffle that provided scholarships to the conference.
I have PowerPoints on most of the below topics. While I am willing to share information, the images in them come from a variety of sources and I am not sure of copyrights. If interested please contact me directly.
